If you happen to have one of those inexpensive 10-20$ VR headsets and are looking for ways to make a good use of it, then the Trinus Cardboard VR is a fun and exciting app to play with.

Let just admit it, these cheap VR isn’t quite good when it comes to gaming since there aren’t many available options for you. They’re just an updated version of the famous Google Cardboard. It’s not like you’re using an HTC Vive or Oculus Rift, which are specifically designed for VR gaming. But there are ways for us to make a good use of what we have. The setup and installation are quite simple. You just need to download the PC server and install it on your computer first. Then do the same with the Trinus Cardboard VR app on your smartphone. There are three different ways to connect your phone to your PC to play games. You can use a standard Wi-Fi connection, a Wi-Fi direct tethering, or a USB cable. Depending on your preferences between performance and convenience, it’s yours to decide which is the best method for you.

The gaming experiences are quite good even on the standard Wireless Wi-Fi connection, you can get a decent amount of FPS from this. The average FPS should stay above 20 which is fairly playable. Now, it won’t look as cool and responsive as games on the dedicated headset like HTC Vive or PlayStation VR, but it’s very fun to play with. While it doesn’t deliver the best looking VR experiences, the Trinus VR is an excellent and easy-to-use app for VR beginners. It has minimum requirements and will perform reasonably good with pretty much any smartphones that you’re currently having.
