Let just admit it, these cheap VR isn’t quite good when it comes to gaming since there aren’t many available options for you. They’re just an updated version of the famous Google Cardboard. It’s not like you’re using an HTC Vive or Oculus Rift, which are specifically designed for VR gaming. But there are ways for us to make a good use of what we have. And the Trinus VR is an excellent mobile app for the job.

The concept is quite simple and tempting, you’ll basically stream your PC games to your smartphones and using the VR headset to watch the images. It’s a great way to make good use of your device instead of watch movies or 360o YouTube video, which could be quite boring if you’re doing it for a long period of time.

The setup and installation are quite simple. You just need to download the PC server and install it on your computer first. Then do the same with the Trinus Cardboard VR app on your smartphone. You can download the Apk file completely free for your Android device on Apkdone, or get it on App Store if you’re using iPhone. After that, you can go ahead and load it up.

There are three different ways to connect your phone to your PC to play games. You can use a standard Wi-Fi connection, a Wi-Fi direct tethering, or a USB cable. Depending on your preferences between performance and convenience, it’s yours to decide which is the best method for you.

The gaming experiences are quite good even on the standard Wireless Wi-Fi connection, you can get a decent amount of FPS from this. The average FPS should stay above 20 which is fairly playable. Using the Wi-Fi direct tethering you could get better performances, and with the USB cable connection, you’ll have no trouble playing the games. One thing to keep in mind that your VR experiences on the Trinus VR will also depend on your system hardware, so make sure you have that well-covered before play with the app.

One of the cool thing about Trinus Cardboard VR is that you can even use the app to play non-VR titles. Now, it won’t look as cool and responsive as games on the dedicated headset like HTC Vive or PlayStation VR, but it’s very fun to play with. On top of that, the developers have included tons of different preset for different systems to optimize your gaming experiences. And if you don’t find them helpful, you can always change the settings in the configuration panel.

While it doesn’t deliver the best looking VR experiences, the Trinus VR is an excellent and easy-to-use app for VR beginners. It has minimum requirements and will perform reasonably good with pretty much any smartphones that you’re currently having.
